I’ve been fortunate to spend a lot of time with Matt over the years and he always struck me as someone who was comfortable enough in their own skin to not care what other people thought of him. But little did I know, that despite his insouciant demeaner, Matt was keeping the fact that he was gay bottled up inside. He kept it a secret from friends, family, and the BMX community for fear of how he would be perceived.
