“It’s that time of the year, the time of the year when I turn my focus from The BMX In Our Blood podcast to pushing the biggest BMX fundraising event of the year. If you are receiving this email you have most likely been a supporter of the past events. I have also included media outlets that I hope will put the word out through your channels so we can make this year’s event the best one yet.
The concept became a reality over a bet between myself and a friend. That became the catalyst to hold our 1st event in Long Island at Shoreham BMX for John Lee. The attendance and impact was so amazing that I decided to keep it going annually with the help of my BMX friends. Past beneficiaries have been John Lee, Stephen Murray, Scotty Cranmer and the family of Kevin Robinson. We have raised over $70,000 thus far. There was also a smaller jam two years ago that we put on to benefit Chris Hallman and Lorenzo Velazquez. That was a celebration of Scotty getting back on the bike. With the amount of appreciation and help we have been able to provide to those in need, we just can’t stop.
This year will be our 2nd year at the Powder Ridge Ski and Bike Park in Middlefield, CT. It is an amazing facility that has everything from bike jump lines, downhill MTB trails, concrete snake runs and of course a BMX jump line built by the one and only Dave King (Dirt Sculpt Dave). We will again have a Scotty Cranmer obstacle course which never disappoints! Scotty is a major part of the event as he gives back after being the beneficary in the past. In addition we have onsite camping available making it a 2 day event for the 1st time. The fundraising for R2R will be on Sunday, Saturday is a fun day lead up to the real event.
As many of you know through your past years of generosity, the event proceeds are from admissions as well as raffles and an amazing silent auction. The raffles are a critical part of the event and supported by your donations of BMX and/or MTB goods. No donation is too small and is bound to contribute to the event’s success. The silent auction is made up of artwork, memorabilia, photos and more.
Lastly, thank you. So many of you have supported the event through difficult times in the past 5 years and it is very much appreciated. Also, any signage for the days is more than welcome as well as the option of setting up a company display in our vending area.
